CONGRATULATIONS to Mr. Carty, the children, and the team at St. Enda’s National School, Lisdoonvarna, who received a “very good to excellent” grade after a two-day mathematics inspection last week.
NOVEMBER LISTS OF OUR DECEASED: it’s nearly November when we remember our loved ones gone before us. We give thanks and praise to Jesus our Risen Lord who made of His cross a bridge for us to span the troubled waters of this life into the next dimension, the fullness of life with Him, Our Lady, and all our loved ones gone before us. Please write out their names and place these and your November Mass offerings in the envelope provided, then place them in the basket or box to be remembered in our novena of Masses. Thank you so much in advance for this. As you know, the priest does not have access to the weekly collection but relies for his income mainly on these November Mass offerings, along with the Autumn, Christmas, and Easter ones.
PARISH COUNCIL UP-DATE: the secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council, Ann Tynne, reports: along with the Parish Finance Committee, we had our last evening of training last week in the Falls hotel, hosted by Bishop Michael and Fr. Gerard McCarthy. The theme was “how are we doing?” as we recapped on our previous training nights. We observed that, as both committees were well-established in our parish, we had most of the ground work done. Some parishes are beginning the journey. Bishop Michael feels that there will be much change in the years to come, and is encouraging all parishioners to get involved in Church life by responding to the missionary outreach of the PPC which aims to gain new members. People can do this by becoming bereavement ministers, Ministers of the Word and Eucharist, and volunteering in a variety of capacities. Smaller parishes were encouraged to pool their resources, and our current practice of a bi-annual statement from the Parish Finance Committee was affirmed.
