Parish News
PARISH MISSION: next Sunday is Mission Sunday. The word “mission” comes from the Latin term missio, meaning “to be sent.” The parish council know that, because of our Baptism, we are all sent in the name of Jesus to bring others to Him, to experience His healing and life-giving grace. To this end, there will be a parish mission on the week of Monday, November 6th, with nightly sessions in Lisdoonvarna church at 7pm, and morning Masses in the 4 churches. A collection towards mission expenses will be taken up the weekend before. Here are the themes and speakers: Coping with addiction: Damien and Mary Richardson, a married couple who have been through it themselves. Healing and forgiveness: Fr. Oisin Martin, Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. Fr. Oisin works in Moyross, Limerick, and has a great heart for young people. Coping with adversity: Antionette Moynihan, founder of Children of the Eucharist. Re-engaging with faith; how do you pray? Deacons John Taafe and Pat Butterly (they were here during the summer), and Faith of our Fathers and Mothers, the enduring values that got them through: Mary Mc Donagh, who lost her son Bernard to suicide.
SAFETY FIRST: for the next while, for safety reasons due to the scaffolding, Lisdoonvarna the church will be closed except for weekend Masses and daily Mass. For daily Masses, please enter and exit by the side door on the secondary school side.
MEDUGORJE: Fr. Robert will be in Medugorje from Wednesday, October 11 to Wednesday, October 18. Fr. Oliver Ryan will cover weekend Masses. Welcome to the parish, Fr. Oliver. His number in case of emergency is 087 4535737. Fr. Martin Shanahan in Inagh is also kindly available for emergencies, 087 7486935. For other assistance, ring Mary Mooney on 086 8653926. To book Masses, ring Helen on 087 9763559.
CONGRATULATIONS to the St. Breckan’s lads and may you go all the way! Please display your flags everyone!
TOOVAHERA CAR PARK UPDATE: as I informed you before, Clare County Council have requested an archaeological survey of the field, which will cost 1195 plus 23%/vat, plus the hiring of a digger. They also require a traffic survey which will cost 2750 euro. So the Parish Finance Committee have advised that we proceed with the first, because if anything of value is found, the second will be a non-runner anyway.
