CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK this year will be held this week, beginning on Sunday 21 st . Thank God for our
wonderful primary and secondary school communities: school staff, students, Boards of Management, and
parents. God bless all the wonderful work that is done there, often seen only by the Good Lord. The theme for
this year is: Communities of Service: serving your friends, serving your school community, serving your family,
serving your local community, serving your church community.
GUEST SPEAKER THIS WEEKEND: we welcome our guest speaker at all Masses, Mrs. Patrica Friel, manager of
the Mary’ Meals charity in Ireland. This wonderful charity’s aim is very simple: to give a school-going child in a
developing country one hot meal a day, to help continue their education. Unless it is put into action, prayer
can easily become a comfortable cul de sac which insulates me from the world, and from my baptismal call to
mission. Mary’s Meals is a wonderful opportunity to put my prayers into action!
SINCERE THANKS from Martin Doran, our voluntary sacristan in Lisdoonvarna church, for all your prayers and
expressions of concern for him. We pray that Our Lord and Our Blessed Lady give him a speedy recovery.
FINANCIAL REPORT: please take your copy of our twice-yearly parish financial update. Thank you so much to
you all for your generous contributions, which are a way of saying that you value a continued church presence
and having access to the blessings of the Lord, that we cannot live on bread alone, but need Jesus, the Bread
of Life, as food for the journey. Thank you also to our dedicated Parish Finance Committee for their diligent
stewardship of the parish’s material resources: John O’ Loughlin (Chair), Mary Clohessy, Pat O’ Donohue, and
Mary-Ellen Moloney.
KILSHANNY CHURCH TOILET: I am delighted to inform you that, having received tenders for the disabled wc,
treatment-system and percolation area, the Parish Finance Committee has awarded the contract to SMD
Construction Ltd.
**There will be NO 9.30am MASS on Friday the 26th in Lisdoonvarna, as I’m going to Athenry to offer Mass
there for the anniversaries of my parents. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION AND CONFIRMATION: The Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated in Holy
Rosary Church, Doolin, on Thursday, April 11 th , 2024. First Holy Communion will be celebrated in Doolin
Church on Saturday, April 27 th , 2024, at 11am, and in Lisdoonvarna on Saturday, May 4 th , 2024, at 11am. Next
weekend, please God, we would like to welcome in a special way to the four weekend Masses all the above
candidates and their families. Lord, renew in me the grace of my own First Communion, the time when you
first took up residence in the house of my soul. Lord I repent of the times since then that I received you absent-
mindedly, disrespectfully, even with serious sin on my soul. Give me the grace to press the delete button on my
past, with the grace of a good confession, and make of my soul once again a worthy dwelling-place for You,
the Lord of all creation, Who, in this little white Host, gives me Your very self as food for the journey of life.
Amen. Our Lady, Mother of the Eucharist, pray for us.
