THANK YOU FOR LAST WEEK’S COLLECTION: €1506
NEXT YEAR’S PARISH PILGRIMAGE will be to Lourdes on Easter week (April 20-27), hosted by Faith and Light.
THANK YOU, LORD! PLANNING PERMISSION HAS BEEN GRANTED FOR TOOVAHERA CHURCH CAR PARK by Clare County Council. Thanks be to Jesus and Mary, and to all those involved in obtaining this.
SOME PERSONAL TIME: since being blest with this parish appointment nearly three years ago, there has been a lot to attend to and I have not had much time for a break. Therefore, during the months of September and October (not for the full months!) I will be taking some personal time. During those times, there will no daily Mass, but of course there will be weekend Mass cover. Please text Mary on 086 8236596 to book Masses, or book them with me well in advance. More details nearer the time. There will be no newsletter the weekends I’m away.
CEMETERY MASSES will be celebrated please God at 7pm over the next two Wednesday evenings, weather permitting. Mass will be held in the local church if weather is bad. Obviously there will be no Adoration on these evenings. Please don’t be annoyed if we have to move to the church. We cannot have holy Mass in the rain as it’s hard to protect the Sacred Hosts from getting wet and soggy, and then they are very hard to distribute.
Wednesday, August 7th: Kilmoon cemetery.
Wednesday, August 14th, Doolin cemetery (vigil Mass of Holy Day of Our Lady’s Assumption, the 15th.)
We are all beloved and baptised sons and daughters of God,members of our Catholic Church. On a local level, we are members of our local churches too. On a practical level, we are all responsible for our local church grounds and cemeteries and shouldn’t just assume that someone else will do it. Volunteering our time for this is a lovely way of putting prayer into action, honouring those gone before us, and giving something back to God. Thank you to the Fas members and local volunteers who are doing this already, but they cannot do it alone. It would be good to have our cemeteries looking well for the Masses for our loved ones buried there. It’s the least they deserve for all the sacrifices they made for us and for our country’s freedom in much harder times, sacrifices which are known to God alone. May we imitate their courage and patriotism, values sadly lacking in our self-obsessed world.
WEDDING BELLS: congratulations to our parishioner Stephen Tierney on his wedding to Mayo lady, Lorraine Gibbons last weekend.
CONGRATULATIONS to our parishioners who climbed the Reek last weekend, and brought the prayers of the parish up with them. And congratulations and best wishes to Team Ireland at the Olympics.
BETTER BE LATE THAN DEAD ON TIME: her guardian angel was working overtime when a parishioner had a very near miss in Lisdoonvarna last week, when a rental car drove through the town with such speed that it hit her car and was itself turned upside down. The two occupants were miraculously uninjured thank God. I believe that we need speed ramps installed sooner rather than later.
